Stories Deserve More Than a Place on a Shelf
Books preserve stories, but the people, artwork, history, and creative moments surrounding those books are often forgotten.
Literary Collectibles is a new initiative designed to preserve and celebrate literature through carefully produced collectible pieces that connect readers with authors, stories, books, and literary history.
Created with an archival mindset and a collector’s appreciation for meaningful objects, Literary Collectibles will transform selected literary works into tangible pieces of cultural memory.
More Than a Trading Card
Literary Collectibles are not intended to imitate traditional sports or entertainment cards. They are designed as miniature literary exhibits—objects that introduce readers to a book, preserve an author’s contribution, and celebrate the story behind the publication.
Each collectible may highlight a different part of the literary experience, including:
- Authors and their creative journeys
- Individual stories and their themes
- Book and anthology cover artwork
- Important publishing milestones
- Literary organizations, events, and historical moments
Together, these collectibles will create an expanding visual and historical record of literature and the people responsible for creating it.
The First Collection
The first Literary Collectibles project will be connected to the 11th Annual Short Stories by Texas Authors anthology.
Rather than treating the anthology as a single collectible, the project will explore several distinct parts of the publication. This will allow collectors and readers to discover the anthology through its overall identity, its contributing authors, and the individual stories selected for publication.
Additional details will be announced after the anthology selections and final cover design have been completed.
Designed for Discovery
Every Literary Collectible will be created to encourage further exploration.
A reader may first discover a compelling image, an unfamiliar author, or an intriguing story title. That collectible can then become a doorway into the complete work, the author’s broader catalog, and the history surrounding the publication.
The goal is not simply to produce something people can own. The goal is to create something that makes people want to read, learn, remember, and collect.
Built as a Literary Archive
Literary Collectibles will use an organized identification and cataloging system so that each item can be connected to its collection, publication, and place within the larger program.
This structure will allow the project to grow over time while preserving the identity of every release.
Future collections may explore additional anthologies, books, authors, literary programs, historical publications, and other parts of the writing and publishing world.
Why This Matters
Writers create more than products. They create cultural records.
Yet many meaningful stories, independent publications, and author achievements disappear from public memory once a book is no longer new. Literary Collectibles offers another way to preserve those contributions while creating an accessible connection between literature and future readers.

A New Chapter in Literary Discovery
The Literary Collectibles program is currently in development, with the first official collection planned in connection with the upcoming Short Stories by Texas Authors anthology.
Designs, participating authors, featured stories, availability, and collector information will be announced as the collection moves closer to production.
